Dan Nicholson

Dan Nicholson was Lieutenant Commander RN. During his time in the Royal Navy he was Clearance Diving Officer (Diving and Bomb/Mine disposal), and also Captain of a 400 ton Minesweeper.

Subsequently, he has been Training Manager RNLI, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Examiner and instructor for motor cruising RYA Powerboat level 2. Since 1996 he has been Senior Tutor for Ocean Training (They provide RYA distance learning courses). He has also owned a 56 ft canal boat.  Since 2001 also a Brownsea Island volunteer warden.

Skipper on Dolphin since 2016. He enjoys being a skipper and admires the work of the crews who give much pleasure to the passengers. He recalls that on his first trip one of the passengers was a 104 year old lady who, though in a wheelchair was sharp witted and all smiles and spent most of her time mischievously flirting with the male crew members!!

Dan was born in Manchester, but also lived in Portsmouth and West Meon before moving to Poole in 1995 to take up his RNLI career.
